Shipwrecked Arken Freeth and the Adventure of the Neanderthals Book 2 edition by Alex Paul Children eBooks Reviews

  • siliconhillbilly here; I borrow Mamie's account sometimes.
Well done prehistory adventure aimed at the younger crowd. There are some thoughtful moral lessons woven into the story. Good stuff. I am NOT of the YA persuasion, but I have read 3 of the books in the series and found the characters and story lines to be quite good.
  • If you want to read a really good adventure story, this is for you! Arken Freeth is a young man who lived 13,000 years ago. After graduating from the royal academy, he and his classmates go on a sea journey that ends in a shipwreck. Arken and his few surviving classmates must try to survive in a land filled with saber tooth tigers, wild boar, giant mammoths, and each other, because Arken' s worst enemy also survived. I highly recommend this book!
  • I found this to be a really fun and compelling adventure story. It is well written and I honestly had a hard time putting it down. Arken Freeth is a brave and noble young man who is a wonderful role model and who has a fun and adventurous way of overcoming all kinds of difficulties in a world of evil pirates, treasure, frightfully large scary animals that are always on the prowl, the unscrupulous companion, and of course, the lovely and brave young lady. I am sure many will suggest that this is a story for children, but I am a grandfather and I loved the story. Buy it, enjoy it and be sure to read it to your adventurous kids.
  • This is the second Arken Freeth book that I read. The first one I previewed for my nephews to make sure it was age appropriate. This one, I ended up getting for myself and gifting to my nephews after I had finished it. I loved book because they really primes your imagination with a great story and vivid descriptions. My nephews tore through this one as well.
  • Arken Freeth is a teenaged Neanderthal boy with a history. He is on the cusp of heroism in the first adventure of his life. I read the book through the eyes of my 9 year old granddaughter. She loved the interesting animal names (ban, toth, anlop, gastag, picar, zarsus) which sound like the early names for current animals. Arken's warning to his fellow warriors "stay close to trees to climb should a large cat appear" is always good advice for adventurers. I would recommend this read for young teens and parents. I am looking forward to reading Author Alex Paul's Arken Freeth series.
  • Written for teens. Thought provoking on possible history fiction..
  • This book was recommended to me as one I wouldn't put down once started. Instead, I picked it up daily enjoying it like a serial adventure. Alex Paul paints a series of images and conflicts in a land exciting to imagine. A story of a very young warrior becoming a leader; his encounters giving "what if" a new meaning.
  • This is the next level adventure story you have been waiting for, brash, rip-roaring and stunningly original, It is unlike any young adult fiction you've ever read.
